This young adult book series tells about the twins Coke and Pepsi who travel with their parents in an RV from California to Washington, D.C. and back.  Mission Unstoppable is the first book in the series and takes them about half-way across the United States. It would be great for upper elementary- to middle-school aged students.  The twins have to decode secret messages and outwit people who are trying to kill them while keeping all of this secret from their parents. The visit unusual natural wonders as well as a variety of tourist places. The directions for following their trip on Google maps is included.

The Rainborowes by Adrian Tinniswood

This nonfiction book, The Rainborowes: One Family's Quest to Build a New England, tells the story of an extended family in the mid 1600s in an interesting way. One of the reasons I found it especially informative because it tells the story of people who lived between the first settlers in New England and the Revolutionary War.  This is a time period that I had not read much about before. The book also would be valuable to anyone visiting New England, especially the Boston area, and Great Britain, particularly London.  The descriptions of the streets, towns, and surrounding areas could add to the trip.
